4.0 out of 5 stars Canmore, Queen Margaret to David II.....the missing Scottish history!
A book filled with, for me, information about the medieval kings of Scotland. The writing style is crisp, to the point, with little or none academic padding.
Being educated in Scotland, where my history was presented as a hagiography of Malcolm Canmore and Queen Margaret, followed by a long gap until Alexander III fell off his horse at Kinghorn, this book corrects the romantic history while filling in the gaps.
