- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2014Many a day has passed wherein arm chair historians have made a true MESS of the brilliance of African Civilizations! Basil Davidson has uncovered some challenging information that simply can not be swept back under the rug! Without malice, without prejudice this book is a must read for those who think the worst of African people based upon the incredible LIES that they've consumed about skin color and other physical attributes; misalignment of true African history; the backwards education (mis-education) they've received perpetually putting them in the last place. Maybe, just maybe Our African people will regain the confidence to move forward in an impressive way towards becoming the model citizen, instead of the outcast. Overall a great book to have in ones library.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2017I bought 3 copies. It is great to look at African Americans from a starting point in Africa, rather than the old African American History Month. One
realizes, or is reminded, that all civilizations eventually will be gone, as will America.

Basil Davidson is an expert and African historian. He is not just a goo writer but he is a very good at communicating his love of Africa and African history is unique even amongst native African historian. I always find his book a joy to read but also great for learning African history. .
