About the Author

BRIAN SIMMONS is the lead translator of The Passion Translation®. The Passion Translation (TPT) is a heart-level translation that uses Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic manuscripts to express God's fiery heart of love to this generation, merging the emotion and life-changing truth of God's Word. The hope for TPT is to trigger inside every reader an overwhelming response to the truth of the Bible and to reveal the deep mysteries of the Scriptures in the love language of God, the language of the heart. Brian is currently translating the Old Testament.

After a dramatic conversion to Christ in 1971, Brian and his wife, Candice, answered the call of God to leave everything behind and become missionaries to unreached peoples. Taking their three children to the tropical rain forest of Central America, they planted churches for many years with the Paya-Kuna people group. Brian established leadership for the churches that Jesus birthed, and, having been trained in linguistics and Bible translation principles, assisted with the translation of the Paya-Kuna New Testament.

After their ministry overseas, Brian and Candice returned to North America, where Brian continued to passionately work toward helping people encounter the risen Christ. He and his wife planted numerous ministries, including a dynamic church in New England (U.S.). They also established Passion & Fire Ministries, under which they travel full-time as Bible teachers in service of local churches throughout the world.

Brian is the author of numerous books, Bible studies, and devotionals that help readers encounter God's heart and experience a deeper revelation of God as our Bridegroom King, including Throne Room Prayer, The Sacred Journey, Prayers on Fire, The Divine Romance, and The Vision.

Brian and Candice have been married since 1971 and have three children as well as precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their passion is to live as loving examples of a spiritual father and mother to this generation.

Brian and Candice Simmons have been described as true pioneers in ministry. It's obvious the love the author has for this work and the great length's he's gone to. I appreciate the footnotes with informative information that I have not learned from other study bibles. I have enough discernment and knowledge to not get worked up like others who say this is not a translation. Whenever there is a section where the author added to the bible, he explains what it is and why. He is certainly not trying to change anything that God is telling us. My only gripe about the book, which is not the written part, is the publishers size and binding. The paper is nice and thick, but not too thick, the ink is dark and readable.....but the binding is so so stiff. So hard to keep the book open. BroadStreet should go back to their 2014 version that was wider and the book so much more flexible. I have both versions and the 2014 (some of the new testament books) is far superior to the 2023 stiff books. Thank you :)

The New Testament of The Passion Translation is complete. Now, the Old Testament is being translated. These are two very interesting prophetic books! Any books that you purchase of TPT will be a blessing to you. Each book has a very thorough 'Introduction' and extensive notes. I especially like the information on the parts that were translated from the Aramaic. Jesus and the disciples would have probably spoken Aramaic.

This is one of the finest translations available! The author translated the Bible for an indigenous group in Panama, not far from the Wadoni tribe in Ecuador that killed missionaries in the 50s and became Christians in the 60s. The translation is beautiful, although some scholars consider it more of a paraphrase than a translation. I can almost hear the speakers and authors as I read, and have a deeper appreciation for the voice of God behind the words. Reading the Passion Translation can revitalize your spiritual life. By the way, author Brian Simmons now has a translation team of scholars helping him.

Like I said on my review of the book of Isaiah, this translation is beautifully graphic. The passion translation is so descriptive but succinct (compared to the Amplified version). You can understand the the prophetic books in this version immediately without needing to open up a bible concordance. It's a beautiful read, you wpn't regret buying this I'm buying every bible book possible in the passion translation. I recommend you get this and the book or Genesis.
