Il semble que Polyeucte le Sphettien7 faisait allusion à cela, quand il disait que Démosthène était le meilleur des orateurs et Phocion le plus éloquent. Comme, parmi les monnaies, celles qui sous un moindre volume ont plus de valeur sont estimées davantage, ainsi la force du discours consiste à exprimer beaucoup de choses en peu de mots.
