When I lived in Greece, I tried to collect books such as this (in-depth information about one specific archeological site) from each site I visited, but somehow my copy of OLYMPIA -THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE AND RUINS was misplaced or lost through the years. I was thrilled and amazed to find this jewel offered by a wonderful used book store, and made available through amazon.com. I bought my original copy in the museum gift shop in Olympia, Greece, which is "the usual vendor" for such books. While I highly recommend spending time at the actual archaeological site if you possibly can, I am also very grateful I was able to replace the book without the expense of an actual trip from Dallas, Texas to Olympia, Greece! Books, as the old saying goes, are a wonderful way to "armchair travel. Used books and on-line used book stores are a gift from the gods! This book from this or any of the wonderful used book stores that offer their collections through amazon.com can take you on a vicarious stroll through the Temple of Zeus and the sacred Altis at an incredible bargain rate. "Frequent Flyer" can take on a whole new meaning! Try it. You'll love it!

I went to Greece in Oct 2017 and the museum was out of the English version of Ancient Olympia. That was an extraordinary site to see and experience for myself. I have plenty of pictures but I so very much wanted the book for the detailed information to tell more about the history and facts for the pictures I took. I hoped I would find something comparable on Amazon. Jackpot! Thank you Amazon!
