Candace Amanishakheto of Meroe
Sandstone stele showing the Candace (or queen) Amanishakheto of Meroe (r. c. 10 BCE–1 CE) from the Kingdom of Kush, modern-day Sudan.
Dating from the 1st century BCE and found at the temple of Amun in Naqa, she is depicted between the goddess Amesemi and the god Apedemak.
This photo was taken when the stele was on loan in Munich at the Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst (originally from the Khartoum National Museum in Sudan).
