Swiss Zweihander — View Full-Size Image

This Zweihander sword has a steel blade with ornately etched designs and lettering. The hilt is made of iron, wood, and leather. It was used by the guard of an official during parades and ceremonial occasions.

Made in Lucerne, Switzerland. Dated 1617 CE. 167.2 cm (65 13/16 in) x 46.4 cm (18 1/4 in) x 18.7 cm (7 3/8 in). Weight: 3.5 kg, (7 lb 13 oz). Saint Louis Art Museum.
