Celtic Helmet, British Museum
Although Celts are popularly depicted as poorly equipped barbarians, the Celts produced chainmail and armour of very high quality. This 2nd-century BCE La Tène-style helmet was used by Celtic warriors and later inspired the Roman "coolus" type helmet. The "coolus" helmet was one of the more common helmets used by Roman soldiers until the 2nd century CE.
