The Braschi Antinous
This colossal statue depicts Antinous, the lover of the Roman emperor Hadrian (r. 117-138 CE). After the early death of Antinous, Hadrian had him deified and founded the Egyptian city of Antinoƶpolis in his honour. Hundreds of statues of Antinous survive today, a testament to Hadrian's devotion and the longevity of Antinous' personal cult.
