In this gallery, we showcase 30 paintings by Berthe Morisot (1841-95) the French impressionist painter whose many career successes helped open the door for future female painters to access the most prestigious art schools and galleries in France. The selection here is presented in chronological sequence to show the artist's progression in style, although Morisot remained remarkably true to the ideals of impressionism throughout her career. We can see her family, the places she visited, and the domestic scenes she presented from a uniquely female viewpoint.
The moment I set up my easel more than fifty boys and girls are swarming about me, shouting and gesticulating.
