In this gallery, we showcase 30 paintings by Camille Pissarro (1830-1903), one of the founders of the impressionist movement in 19th-century France. The paintings are presented in chronological sequence to better show the artist's development from his early works on his native island St. Thomas through to his mature impressionism, experimentation with pointillism, and studies of the boulevards of Paris. Famed as one of the great landscape painters, Pissarro's work was, in reality, much more varied than that as he constantly pushed himself to try new techniques and subjects.
Paint generously and unhesitatingly, for it is best not to lose the first impression. Don't be timid in front of nature; one must be bold…
