An 1871 oil on canvas, Crystal Palace, by Camille Pissarro (1830-1903), the Danish-French impressionist painter. Pissarro lived and painted in England during the Franco-Prussian War. He met the art dealer Paul Durand-Ruel and this was the first work he bought. (The Art Institute of Chicago)
