In this gallery, we showcase 30 paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919), the French impressionist painter. The selection here is presented in chronological sequence to show the artist's career progression. Renoir was instrumental in developing impressionism before he moved on to his own particular approach using soft colours and outlines to present a seemingly carefree view of the world. A prolific painter, this selection includes his most famous works, portraits of his family, views of the places he lived and visited, and several lesser-known canvases.
