Saint Bridget of Sweden
Saint Bridget of Sweden (c. 1303-1373) was a medieval mystic and founder of the Bridgettine Order. In 1316 she married Ulf Gudmarsson (died 1344), and after his death, she devoted herself to religious contemplation and service. She would experience many religious visions and would document them. Bridget would serve as a counselor to many kings and popes due to her devotion to the Catholic Church. Traveling to Rome, Bridget established the Bridgettine Order and emphasized a monastic life. Bridget was canonized in 1391.
