Christine de Pizan
Christine de Pizan (1364 - c. 1430) was a prolific author, poet, and philosopher in medieval Europe. With the death of her husband in 1389, Christine had to support herself and her children so she took up professional writing. Many of her works explored respect for women and advocating for more equality. Christine serves as an example of the advancement of women during the medieval period as she was the first professional female writer of the Middle Ages.
