US Troops in Snow, Battle of the Bulge
A January 1945 photograph showing US troops in snow near Herresbach, Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. The battle, fought from 16 December 1944 to 16 January 1945, was Adolf Hitler's last major offensive of the Second World War (1939-45) but it ended in defeat thanks to the high mobility of the Allied troops.
