Stela of Ity
Stela of Ity from Abydos, Egypt, 12th Dynasty, year 14 of the reign of King Senusret I, c. 1951 BCE.
In the upper scene, Ity and his wife receive offerings from two sons. Below left is another figure of Ity faced by two daughters. The top of the stela bears an exact date; year 14 of the reign of Senusret I. The family came from Thebes, where Ity was employed at the temple of Amun-Ra in Karnak. They built an offering chapel, containing this stela, at Abydos to be closely associated with Osiris, the god of the afterlife.
