Greek chariot racers from the base of a funerary kouros, later included in the Themistokleian Wall of Athens. Chariot racing was an Olympic event in Greece, although unlike in the Roman Empire it was the chariot owners rather the drivers who received all the glory for winning. 510-500 BCE.
