Bust of Pluto, Palazzo Altemps
Pluto was the god of the underworld and the dead. However, he was also associated with wealth, such as the minerals and metals buried deep within the earth. Pluto was often depicted with a sceptre or cornucopia. Pictured: Bust of Pluto, based on a 5th-century BCE Greek original. (National Roman Museum, Palazzo Altemps)
