Romulus & Remus
According to Rome's most popular foundation myth, Romulus & Remus founded the city in 753 BCE. The twin brothers were the sons of Mars and the mortal woman Rhea Silvia. After being separated from their mother, they were suckled by a she-wolf. The she-wolf and the twins became common motifs in Roman art.
