Disc Dedicated to the Sun-God Sol
Sol Invictus was adopted as the main sun god of the later Roman Empire, displacing Apollo. He took on many roles previously associated with gods like Jupiter, Mars, and Hercules, and was extremely popular within the Roman army. He is often depicted with a coronet or halo of solar rays.
