Penates

The Penates protected the pantries and foodstores of households and were related to Lares. Roman families would often toss a portion of the meal into the fire as an offering to the Penates. Like Lares and other household deities, they were commonly depicted as small figurines and statuettes. Pictured: Bronze statuette of the Penates, 1st-3rd century CE.
