Illustration
This is a votive statuette of a male Sumerian worshiper from the Square Temple of Abu at Tell Asmar (ancient Eshnunna, Mesopotamia, Iraq), Early Dynastic III, 2600-2400 BCE. Excavated by the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago in the 1933-1934 season. Part of the so-called "Tell Asmar Hoard". Tell Asmar Hoard is composed of 12 statuettes; seven are on display at the Sumerian Gallery of the Iraq Museum in Baghdad, Republic of Iraq.
