Ink Painting of Groom & Horse — A Chinese handscroll dating from between 1296 - 1359 CE, when China was ruled by the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty. The handscroll depicts grooms with their horses, a theme which became increasingly popular during this period due to the high value placed on horsemanship in Mongolian culture.

Ink and color on silk. 30.2 x 178.1 cm (12 x 70 in.) From China, now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY.
