Illustration
The Temple of Jupiter dominates the north side of the Forum of Pompeii, with Mount Vesuvius looming behind it. After the town became a Roman colony in 80 BCE, the temple became a Capitolium, a temple dedicated to the capitoline triad (Jupiter, Juno and Minerva).
