Hōne Heke (c. 1807/1808 – 1850), an influential Māori rangatira (or chief) and war leader of the Ngāpuhi iwi (or tribe) in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. This oil portrait was painted by William Duke (1810 - 1859 CE).
