The bronze Witham Shield from Celtic Britain. It measures 1.09 metres (43 in) in length and 34.5 centimetres (13.5 in) in width. Originally, it would have been attached to a wood or leather backing. The central boss has red coral and repoussé decoration. 400-300 BCE. (British Museum, London)
