Wooden furniture (table, serving stand, stool) from the royal burials (tumuli) at Gordium (the capital of the ancient kingdom of Phrygia in modern-day Turkey). Phrygian period, end of 8th century BCE.
The Gordium wooden objects have been recognized as the most important collection of wooden finds recovered from the ancient Near East. Several of the most elaborate pieces have been mounted for display in the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, Ankara, Turkey.
