Photo of Monte Cassino abbey in Italy. The monastery was established in the 6th Century CE, and reached its peak in the 11th Century CE. Over the centuries, the monastery was damaged by wars and political turmoil. It was finally rebuilt in the mid 20th Century CE, after sustaining damage during World War II.
