Madonna-Lily Clock Egg by Fabergé Download Full Size Image

The 1899 Madonna-Lily Clock Egg by Peter Carl Fabergé (1846-1920). The egg was given by Tsar Nicholas II (r. 1894-1917) to his wife Alexandra Feodorovna. The egg is made of gold with yellow enamel and set with rose diamonds. The central white enamel dial with Roman numerals rotates and the egg is topped with a bouquet of Madonna lilies made of quartzite and set with rose diamonds. It measures 26.7 cm (10.5 in) in height.
