Altarpiece of the Death of the Virgin, Krakow Download Full Size Image

The 1489 altarpiece by Veit Stoss in Saint Mary’s Basilica, Krakow, Poland. Known as the Death of the Virgin altarpiece, it is a monumental example of the folding-screen type altarpiece. The panels show scenes from the life of Mary and Jesus while the central figure-group shows Mary with the 12 Apostles.
