An 1874-5 painting in oils, A Painter at Work, by Paul Cézanne (1839-1906), the French post-impressionist artist. This work shows the influence of the impressionists on Cézanne's palette which uses bright, rich yellow tones and blues. The quick brush strokes are another feature of impressionism. It is perhaps an unfinished work. (Private Collection)
