An 1884-7 painting in oils, Self-portrait with Palette, by Paul Cézanne (1839-1906), the French post-impressionist artist. The only self-portrait by Cézanne which shows more than the face and the only one where he is shown as an artist. Something it does share with his other self-portraits is its sombre mood and colouring. (E.G. Bührle Collection, Zurich)
