A c. 1862 oil on canvas painting, Fishing, by Edouard Manet (1832-83), the French modernist painter. The couple on the right is the artist and his then mistress Suzanne Leenhoff. The work shows the artist's interest in painters like Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) in the early part of his career. The work was exhibited in St. Petersburg. (Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York)
