An 1888 oil on canvas painting, Still Life with Blue Enamel Coffeepot, by Vincent van Gogh (1853-90), the Dutch post-impressionist artist. Painted in May in Arles in southern France. Van Gogh enclosed a sketch of this painting in a letter to his brother Theo where he, as usual, meticulously describes the colours he has used for each object. (Private Collection)
