An 1888 oil on canvas painting, Flowering Garden, by Vincent van Gogh (1853-90), the Dutch post-impressionist artist. Painted in July in Arles, southern France. A lesser-known work, it represents the artist's interest in calming garden scenes with flowers in the same summer he was also painting his more famous night café scenes with much more saturated colours.
