An 1884 oil on canvas painting, Weaver near an Open Window, by Vincent van Gogh (1853-90), the Dutch post-impressionist artist. Painted in July in Nuenen, the Netherlands. The artist made a series of studies of weavers, very often, as here, with the light from a window making a stark contrast with the dark interior. (Bavarian State Painting Collections, Munich)
