A c. 1875 oil on canvas painting, Before the Theatre, by Berthe Morisot (1841-95), the French impressionist painter. Not considered a self-portrait. Here can be seen, perhaps, the influence of Morisot's good friend Edouard Manet (1832-1883) in the choice of black as the dominating colour. The impressionist style, however, is entirely Morisot's.
