A c. 1872 oil on canvas still life, Regatta at Argenteuil, by Claude Monet (1840-1926), the French impressionist painter. The artist is now becoming much bolder with his impressionist style and using larger brushstrokes to capture a subject that would interest him for the rest of his career: reflections. Monet uses here a palette of mostly unblended colours. (Musée d'Orsay, Paris)
