An 1881 oil on canvas, Young Girl with a Stick (aka The Sheperdess), by Camille Pissarro (1830-1903), the Danish-French impressionist painter. The girl's face reflects the colours of the leaves, flowers, and her own hat. The artist said of this very popular painting, "I shall never do more careful, more finished work". (Louvre, Paris)
