A c. 1885 oil on canvas, Madame Pissarro Sewing, by Camille Pissarro (1830-1903), the Danish-French impressionist painter. The artist met Julie Vellay, then a cook's assistant, in 1860. They finally married in 1871 and had eight children together. (Ashmolean Museum, Oxford)
