An 1888 oil on canvas, Van Gogh Painting Sunflowers, by Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) the French post-impressionist painter. Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) shared a house in Arles in 1888. The Dutch painter was not altogether impressed and noted that "This is me gone mad". (Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam)
