An 1890 oil on canvas portrait, Aline Gauguin (aka The Artist's Mother), by Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) the French post-impressionist painter. The artist's mother was Aline Marie Chazal and she had died nearly 25 years before this painting was made. Gauguin used a photograph for the work. (Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart, Germany)
