An 1877 oil on canvas, The Seine at Suresnes, by Alfred Sisley (1839-1899), the Franco-British impressionist painter. Sisley and the impressionists broke away from many conventions in art, one of which was to make a large portion of the canvas sky when in the past this had been restricted to a narrow band at the top of the painting.
