A 1793 oil painting portrait by Sophie Prieur of Marie Antoinette (1755-93) former Queen of France, during her imprisonment in the Tower of the Temple, following the execution of her husband Louis XVI of France in January 1793. The plain portrait is in striking contrast to earlier ones capturing the Queen in sumptuous clothing, jewels, and feathered hats.

Musée Carnavalet, Paris.
