The re-created face of Hatshepsut, the Egyptian pharaoh who reigned from approximately 1479 to 1458 BCE. She is widely regarded as one of the most successful pharaohs in ancient Egyptian history and is notable for being one of the few women to have ruled as pharaoh. During her reign, Hatshepsut oversaw numerous construction projects and expeditions and established important trade relationships with other countries. She is often depicted in Egyptian art wearing traditional male pharaonic regalia, including the false beard and kilt, in order to emphasize her authority and legitimacy as a ruler.
