Histria (or Istros) was a Greek colony near the mouth of the Danube (known as Ister in Ancient Greek) on the western coast of the Black Sea in modern-day Romania, established by settlers from Miletus in the middle of the 7th century BCE. The city was under Roman rule from the 1st to 3rd centuries CE when it became part of the Roman province of Moesia Inferior. The image shows the residential district located on the eastern side of the town, dating from the late Roman period.
