Buffalo Hunt Under the Wolf-Skin Mask by artist George Catlin, c. 1832. The painting depicts the practice of the Plains Indians, prior to the arrival of the horse, in which they would disguise themselves as wolves by wearing wolf hides to get close enough to a bison herd to shoot them.
