Portrait of American Commodore James Barron (1768-1851), who commanded the USS Chesapeake during the Chesapeake-Leopard affair and later served in the War of 1812. He is also known for mortally wounding American naval hero Stephen Decatur in a duel. Oil on canvas painting by John B. Neagle, 1829.
