A cartoon drawn by David Low on the subject of the August 1939 Nazi-Soviet Pact, a non-aggression aggreement between Adolf Hilter (1889-1945), leader of Nazi Germany, and Joseph Stalin (1878-1953), leader of the USSR. Both dictators had spent years attacking each other and their respective ideologies before suddenly signing the agreement which carved up Europe between them, starting with Poland, which is represented by the corpse between Hitler and Stalin in the picture. The cartoon first appeared in the British Evening Standard newspaper in 1939.
